Why get a Massage?
Massages are the best when you just want to melt like butter. Massages often relax, reduce stress, improve circulation, and relieve trigger points. Massage can reduce pain and fatigue, alleviate stress, increase mental clarity, relieve a headache, and just make living better. These benefits may also be addressed by Structural Integration. Receiving massage is often passive, nurturing, and therapeutic. Sarah does all the active work.
Prepare for a Massage
Please commit to your appointment by showing up ready and on time.
Drink plenty of water 1-2 days before your session. Hydration helps you to get the most support for your healthy body.
Schedule some down time after your massage. Allow yourself to rest; massage can get you into a great parasympathetic response - stay in your relaxed state!
Wash up before your massage; you can skip the shampoo and conditioner. (Sometimes oils can get into the hair. Or, ask Sarah to protect your hair from oil - -definitely do-able.) A high ponytail or bun are the best dos for getting a massage.
What will an Integrative Therapeutic Massage be like?
Warmth is adjusted for whatever you prefer. Communicate about your health so you get a safe and appropriate massage. Sarah leaves the room while you undress to your comfort level and get under a sheet onto a massage table. You will always be draped for modesty. Thai and shiatsu can be done wearing comfortable loose clothing if you prefer to stay dressed. Sarah will stay quiet during a massage to allow you to fully experience the relaxation without pressure to make conversation. Speak up anytime to ask her to change the pressure, technique or the area that she is working on.
